Anyone else mentioned this upcomming rain of AI generated 'artworks'? Well, it starts to be a thing in DA as well, and it seems like we will not see a proper filter for this in the near future.
But why i'm against AI generated stuff? No offense against most of the people who use it without understanding the problems behind this.
AI gen's fit the role of NFT generating money printing scam machines. Fine so far, as this market needs an idiot that get into it in the first place. But it uses real art without permission and reshape it - and here it starts to be uncool. The machine gives no credit and the user will never be faced with the fact that he/she is using someone elses works as inspiration. Inspiration isen't the problem, as we all take some. But its a conscious process and its a relevant part of art how to avoid copy&pasting or stealing artstyles from fellow artist.
AI don't care, and so the user don't have to as well.
Artists often use ther skills to make some money for living. AI generatet artworks are much cheaper and can resample existing, shown art in countless variations. So customers can be fast-footed with zero-effort art and real art starts to extinct - while dedicated button-press-experts can still create a small buck without effort. This threatens the whole foundation of art. Don't mention the other scammer tools 'Meta' that is build around NFT/AI spam money printing conceptions and multiply the harmfull effects on all aspects of society.
All this is to the cost of creativity and the chance to make money from talent, even if you're from a poor area. People from all around the world do art for a living. Some people really depend on this work, as they can get a somewhat fair first world payment for it. Some are threatend by war, others by starvation, and again some who have a illness and ther country didn't care if they can't effort the medicine. Ukrain, Afghanistan, Iran, China, USA - every nation you saw or didn't saw in the news.
AI people don't know that they take part in taking those peoples lives, because it's a long line of causalitys down to these harsh realitys. So I don't advocate to judge this people by what they do, but i feel a need to tell them - and i feel a need to tell every website to create a solution in terms and regulations for this. Maybe from a tech company like Wix i expect to develope/deploy a propper AI search algorithm that identifys AI generatet art. But well, even the smallest closing ranks with those who generate ther content/profit would be nice.
And plz don't get into anyones hollow "you're just afraid of new tech/printing also didn't kill art back in the days" arguemnts, which are spilled so regularily that they sound like the casual scriptbook excuses from money traders or drug dealers. Printing created so much more money and range in society that it was (accidently) balanced. AI isen't, and everyone who use the arguement has it heared from the bubble of scammers who know what they do and how to create a reasonable sounding excuse.
I'm not that much afraid for myself, as my art by its focuses is way more save than most others. I don't do this for me, but for it to be necessary to protect art as a whole.
Thanx for your time.
Let's expalin why i'm so angry about it in the first place.
The changes were unwanted, unasked and unable to switch back by the individual who don't like it. There were completely no need to force it onto users who don't like it.
Instead of changing the things that sucked before - like mobile UI that is a mess on PC or to use for actually group and submitt your stuff and pop-up ID's tha tmakes it inable to read the messages and only sometimes vanish after clicking somehwere else - they add new stuff that completley suck.
As they do it to look employeed somehow, they know it would be hated and therefor not make a big announcment but a anonymous critique-e-mail noone would ever read or see as the piled up mountain of complaint it would be if discussed in the open.
Yeah, it is messy as what it is. I guess you know that as well as i and the 'webdesigners'. I can't react fast and intuitive, and it will reduce my communication with watchers even further. The same time it will rise my frustration. Good job, DA-stuff'lings. What a luck your work will not be checked for harming the overal financial value of the company.
It seems mandatory for political parties, corporations, game designers and now websites too to always do the opposite of what was useful or serve the interest of the users.
Creative bankruptcy at its best display.
